I grew up in the Anderson’s Bay area and, after a 3 year OE, I returned to Dunedin in 2003 to attend Otago University. I studied Political Studies and Spanish, followed by a Master of International Studies in 2007.

I’m currently with the Economic Division of MFAT. My role is varied but includes monitoring the global economic crisis, coordinating New Zealand’s engagement with the G20, and liaising with New Zealand Trade & Enterprise / Investment NZ. Over time, I look forward to working in a wide range of divisions and overseas posts. Given my Spanish studies, I’m particularly interested in New Zealand’s engagement with Latin America.

I continue to have strong links with Dunedin through family, social and university networks. I have a personal interest in seeing the city grow and prosper, and international connections will be an important part of that.

As Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade contact for Dunedin I will:

  • Be a contact point within MFAT for Dunedin residents with international interests, whether business, services, arts or other areas
  • Act as a conduit of information, both into and out of MFAT, on topics that I know to be of interest to my contacts in Dunedin
  • Maintain an interest in the city throughout my career and bear in mind its interests while I am posted abroad
  • Visit Dunedin at least once every year while I am based onshore, and before leaving to go on posting and during leave to New Zealand while based offshore
