Nathan spent his formative years in Palmerston North where he attended both Palmerston North Boys High School and Awatapu College.  He studied zoology and ecology at Massey University before leaving the city to work in Nelson and Wellington.  He is a regular visitor home to Palmerston North and continues to have strong links with the Manawatu region through family and friends.

The Connections Programme is a great way to help the Ministry strengthen its connections with Palmerston North and Nathan is excited about playing a role for a city that he calls home.  As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade contact for Palmerston North he will:

  • Be a contact point in the Ministry for Palmerston North residents with international interests, whether in business, services, arts or other areas.
  • Provide relevant information, both to and from the Ministry, on topics that he knows to be of interest to his contacts in Palmerston North.
  • Maintain an interest in the city throughout his career and bear in mind its interests while he is posted abroad.
  • Visit Palmerston North at least once every year while he is based onshore, and before leaving to go on posting and during leave to New Zealand while based offshore.
