I joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade in 2008 after completing my university study. I’m based in the Australia Division, overseeing goods trade with Australia under the Closer Economic Relations trade agreement (CER) and working to promote closer economic integration with Australia. Given the importance of Australia to New Zealand, and the close ties that so many of us share, I’ve very much enjoyed working in the “Aus” team.

I also have the background of having been born in Sydney, right before my family moved back to New Zealand. Since then I have lived in Auckland, Dunedin and now Wellington, as well as having had a few goes at the big Kiwi OE.

Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty area have long been favourite places for me, as the destination for many family holidays when I was young. The beautiful beaches and landscape appeal to my interests such as surfing and hiking. I’m looking forward to deepening the MFAT connection with Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty, and to providing you with a familiar face in Wellington.

As Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade contact for Tauranga I will:

  • Be a contact point within MFAT for Tauranga residents with international interests, whether business, services, arts or other areas
  • Act as a friendly MFAT guide, on topics that I know to be of interest to Tauranga
  • Maintain an interest in Tauranga throughout my career and remember your interests while I am posted abroad
  • Visit at least once every year while I am based onshore, before leaving to go on posting and during leave to New Zealand while based offshore
