Climate Change
MFAT Post 2012 Negotiations Stakeholder Session
On Thursday 16 August 2007, MFAT, with assistance
from other government departments, hosted a half
day presentation and discussion session for stakeholders
on future international action on climate change
and the key issues for New Zealand. Eighty stakeholders
attended the event.
Officials provided a snapshot of the current international discussions, an overview of New Zealand's international position, and outlined the work being led by individual departments to further develop New Zealand's position on key issues, such as emission reduction commitments, LULUCF, and bunker fuels.
As part of the event, stakeholders were invited to present their views on what they considered to be the key issues for New Zealand in the post-2012 international negotiations. Eleven presentations were made from business, NGOs, and academics.
