Peacebuilding Commission

In December 2005 a new Peacebuilding Commission was established as an intergovernmental body to advise on comprehensive strategies for peace-building and post-conflict recovery. The PBC Organisational Committee comprises seven Security Council members, seven General Assembly members, seven ECOSOC members, five top donors and five top troop-contributing countries. The inaugural meeting of the PBC was held in June 2006. The PBC’s first country specific sessions will be on Sierra Leone and Burundi.
