The Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement between Australia and New Zealand came into effect in 1997, and provides for the mutual recognition of each country’s standards and qualifications by the other.
In relation to the movement of people, the TTMRA provides that (in general) people registered to practice an occupation in one country are entitled to register to practice the equivalent occupation in the other country, without the need to undergo further testing or examination. The TTMRA also applies to goods.
