Latin America Strategy -
Objective and Criteria 2010
The objective of the Government's Latin America Strategy is to expand and deepen NewZealand's links with Latin America, especially to maximize the economic opportunities for New Zealand in the region and to strengthen political and foreign policy engagement. The associated Latin America Strategy Fund is a New Zealand Inc tool to help achieve this objective.
Proposals for funding under the Latin America Strategy Fund (LASF) are considered against the broad criteria that the project.

will make a positive contribution to relations with the host country/region;
is not able to secure funding from a more appropriate alternative source;

reflects the varying intensities of New Zealand's relations with the region, with particular priority to Brazil, Chile and Mexico, as well as Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, while open to opportunities with other regional partners like Cuba and Colombia.
