Minister Raineri’s visit to New Zealand helped to consolidate a very important and growing strand in NewZealand’s relationship with Chile.
The intense two day programme exposed Minister Raineri to a range of NewZealand energy companies doing business with Chile (Mighty River Power, Greymouth Petroleum, Windflow Technologies and Solid Energy) as well as research institutions such as Auckland University and GNS Science.
The visit also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on energy policy both with Minister of Energy, Gerry Brownlee and a range of officials. A joint statement released by Ministers Brownlee and Raineri highlighted the current level of energy cooperation between Chile and New Zealand, and the potential to build on this through policy exchange, investment, education and research.
