New Zealand hosted the eighth Forum Economic Ministers Meeting (FEMM) in 2004. The main theme of the Rotorua meeting was the second 'stocktake' of implementation of the Forum Economic Action Plan (which called for a range of liberalisation measures) as well as economic and public sector governance issues.
The ninth Forum Economic Ministers Meeting (FEMM) was held in Funafuti, Tuvalu, from 7-9 June 2005. Hon David Cunliffe, Associate Minister of Finance, represented New Zealand. Ministers agreed to work towards halving the number of days required to start a business before FEMM 2007. FEMM Ministers agreed that economic intergration should be a standing agenda item at future FEMM Meetings and that FEMM Ministers' recommendations in this area should feed in to the Pacific Plan.
