
Prime Minister Key has completed a successful official visit to Australia.
During the visit the Prime Minister visited Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney, and undertook a wide range of engagements with Australia politicians, media and companies, and in support of New Zealand companies and industries succeeding in the Australian market.
The Prime Minister held official talks with Prime Minister Rudd in Canberra on 20 August and presided jointly with him over the first ever joint meeting of cabinet ministers from Australia and New Zealand in Sydney on 21 August. The Prime Minister also met with the Governor-General of Australia, with the Premiers of New South Wales, ACT and Victoria, and with the Leader of the Australian opposition.
The Prime Minister gave a series of major speeches, to Australia’s National Press Club, to the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), to the New Zealand Victoria Business Council, to the Trans-Tasman Business Circle, and to the Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum.
The Prime Minister presented wreaths of remembrance with Prime Minister Rudd at the National War Memorial in Canberra and with NSW premier Hon Nathan Rees in Sydney. He also attended the Bledisloe Cup match in Sydney won by the All Blacks.
