A central aim of this strategy is greater efficiency and effectiveness across all government agencies that work in and with China, and more targeted and cohesive services to help successful businesses develop and grow in China.

Developing and capitalising on New Zealand’s relationship with China is crucial in delivering the Government’s Economic Growth Agenda, including the goal of raising the level of our exports to GDP from 30 to 40 percent by 2025.

The NZ Inc China Strategy reflects China as an important bilateral partner. It has a strong trade and economic focus and sets out ambitious, high-level, five-year goals and actions to achieve them.

The strategy also provides an overview of the strengths and weaknesses in New Zealand’s approach in the market.

The strategy has been developed by ministers and government agencies with important input from industry groups, businesses and organisations involved in building New Zealand’s relationship with China.
