Pacific Three (Chile-Singapore-New Zealand) Closer Economic Partnership Negotiations - Information Bulletin: April 2005

Purpose

This bulletin provides an update on New Zealand’s negotiation of a Closer Economic Partnership agreement with Chile and Singapore (Pacific Three CEP).

Update on Negotiations

Negotiations with Chile and Singapore towards a Closer Economic Partnership Agreement are entering the final stages.

The fourth round of negotiations was recently held in Queenstown, 7-11 March. Brunei again attended as an observer. The fifth round will take place in Singapore 18 – 22 April.

Good progress was made in Queenstown across the full range of the negotiations. Remaining substantive issues, including on market access goods, services and investment will continue to be discussed in Singapore.

The Parties are aiming towards completion of negotiations over the next couple of months.
