Trade Remedies

Trade remedies allow governments to provide temporary relief to domestic industry from unfair competition from abroad or an unexpected surge in imports.

Governments have three types of trade remedy available to them:

The World Trade Organisation has established rules to ensure that these instruments are not abused through overuse [external link].
