Eleventh Round Update September 2007

The eleventh round of FTA negotiations took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 24 - 28 September 2007.

A key focus for these discussions was the framework to guide tabling of initial tariff offers. These discussions have continued in various ASEAN capitals since the round, and will be the principle issue discussed at the next round in December.

In Services and Investment bilateral requests/offers continued and some improvements were made on the last round.

Futhermore, draft texts were also advanced in several areas, including goods, services, investment and notably, the Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary chapter.

Next round of negotiations will take place from 10 - 14 December in Siem Reap.
