Agreement entered into force 1 July 2005
Negotiations on a Closer Economic Partnership (CEP) Agreement between New Zealand and Thailand were concluded in November 2004. In parallel with the CEP, New Zealand and Thailand have negotiated Arrangements on Labour, Environment and Customs Cooperation. The two Prime Ministers announced the successful outcome of all these negotiations when they met at the ASEAN Summit on 30 November. The CEP Agreement, along with a National Interest Analysis, was submitted to the New Zealand Parliament under the Parliamentary treaty examination process on 9 March 2005, and referred to the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Select Committee. The Agreement was signed on 19 April 2005 and entered into force on 1 July 2005.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is inviting submissions on possible negotiations on services and government procurement under the Thailand - New Zealand Closer Economic Partnership Agreement. See below for more details:
