The working group is also reviewing areas where collaborative effort could substantively benefit the bilateral economic relationship. Possible focus areas for future cooperation include agriculture, business facilitation, investment promotion, science and technology, and tourism.
New Zealand has also reinforced the importance it attaches to closer economic relations with Japan, and its hope that in the years ahead Japan and New Zealand will be able to advance the trade and economic architecture, potentially through an economic partnership agreement.
The working group was established in November 2006, and will report back to the next New Zealand-Japan Joint Economic Consultations at the end of the year.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade are keen to hear from interested parties in New Zealand on ways that could improve or facilitate their trade and investment activities with Japan. For more information, contact Llewellyn.Roberts@mfat.govt.nz + 64 4 439 8419
