Background to the conference

The Wellington Conference is a meeting held within the framework of the Oslo Process, which is committed to concluding by 2008 a new treaty on cluster munitions. States, members of civil society and international organisations who share the objectives of the Oslo Process are invited to participate in the Wellington Conference.

Venue

The conference will be held at the Wellington Convention Centre, Town Hall, 111 Wakefield Street.

Please note that the Wellington Convention Centre is a smokefree venue.

Language

The working language of the Conference will be English. Interpretation will be provided in the plenary in English, French and Spanish. Informal sessions of the Conference will be conducted in English.

Delegates facilities

Limited computer and internet access will be available at the Convention Centre. The Convention Centre is also equipped with wi-fi access.

Sponsorship Programme

A sponsorship programme is available for participating states that are low-income or cluster munitions affected countries. UNDP will administer the sponsorship programme according to preset criteria for a maximum of one participant per delegation and within the funds available. Sponsorship will include roundtrip economy class airfare, hotel accommodation in Wellington, and the costs of incidental travel expenses.
