Driving and New Zealand driver licenses

Insert here.

Holders of a current New Zealand driver licence (together with an international driving permit), who are legal visitors, can drive in Belgium and Luxembourg for the duration of their visit.

For New Zealanders resident in Belgium, New Zealand "full" photo driving licences can be exchanged for a "category B" Belgian driving licence. New Zealanders should contact the driving licence desk in the Commune where they reside.

To find out what to do if :

  • you still have an older style licence;
  • you need to replace a lost or stolen New Zealand driver licence while you are overseas;
  • you need to obtain a Certificate of Particulars (this proves you are a licenced New Zealand driver and comes with a letter explaining legislative requirements);
  • you need to obtain an International Driving Permit;
