Policy Adviser vacancy
The New Zealand High Commission in Pretoria is seeking a locally employed Policy Adviser to help advance and support New Zealand’s interests in South Africa and the Southern Africa region.
In this busy position, you will support the Post’s engagement with government officials, local contacts and the business sector. You will be responsible for conducting research and analysis, preparing policy reports and papers, and providing policy advice and recommendations. You will help to identify and implement public and profile-raising events and functions that promote New Zealand’s interests.
The High Commission is seeking highly motivated candidates with relevant tertiary education and at least 5-10 years relevant work experience producing political reporting, analysis and policy advice. Your excellent research and critical analysis skills, coupled with strong written and oral English skills, communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, will be key to your success.
The Policy Adviser role requires a strong delivery focus and capacity to manage multiple priorities. You will be able to demonstrate initiative and work both independently and as part of a high performing team.

The successful applicant will be employed on local terms and conditions and must have the right to work in South Africa. Obtaining and maintaining the appropriate working visa is the responsibility of the applicant and any offer of employment is subject to this. In addition relocation to Pretoria is to be undertaken at the expense of the applicant.
