High Commissioner Phillip Taula
New Zealand's High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea
The New Zealand High Commission Papua New Guinea was delighted to welcome its new High Commissioner Phillip Taula on 1 May 2019.
Phillip brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our High Commission and is committed to building deeper, more mature partnerships in PNG and strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Prior to his appointment, Phillip was Divisional Manager of the United Nations Human Rights and Commonwealth Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He served a term as Deputy Permanent Representative to New Zealand’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York during the campaign for a seat and two-year membership on the Security Council where his role involved close engagement with Pacific missions and other Small Island Developing States. Phillip also served as Acting Head of Mission in Suva, Fiji, from 2010 to 2013.
