Biography

Anton Ojala is a career diplomat who is currently serving as New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Barbados and the Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Anton is also New Zealand Ambassador to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) organisation and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Before his Caribbean assignment, Anton managed New Zealand’s Global Development and Scholarship programmes in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

From 2006-2007 Anton was New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Niue. Previous postings include Australia, the Cook Islands and Papua New Guinea.

Management assignments in the New Zealand Government have included as deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Pacific Division, deputy head of the Ministry’s International Security and Disarmament Division and Assessments Manager at the External Assessments Bureau.

Anton is married to Kathryn Ojala and they have three daughters.
