Biography

The New Zealand High Commission Papua New Guinea is delighted to welcome its new High Commissioner Her Excellency Sue Mackwell. Sue started in her new role on 18 April following on from Tony Fautua who departed on 13 April.

Sue brings a wealth of public service knowledge and experience to our High Commission. Prior to her most recent role as the National Children's Director for Children's Action Plan (Wellington), Sue was the Deputy Chief Executive, Social Service Policy and Social Sector Strategy in New Zealand's Ministry of Social Development. Before this, Sue served as a Cabinet Office Senior Adviser.

Sue has represented New Zealand in its diplomatic missions in Paris and Kuala Lumpur.

She holds a Master of Arts in Political Behaviour (University of Essex) and a Master of Arts (Hons) from the University of Canterbury.
