New Zealand's High Commissioner to Samoa and Consul-General to American Samoa
David was appointed as New Zealand High Commissioner to Samoa and Consul-General to American Samoa in January 2017.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2012 and was appointed to the position of Director of the Pacific Development Division, before taking over as Divisional Manager for Melanesia and Micronesia.
Prior to his roles as a senior official and diplomat with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, David worked as a senior public service manager in New Zealand’s health, social services and education sectors.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts (Hons) from the University of Canterbury and a Master of Public Administration from Victoria University.
He is married to Dr. Debbie Ryan Nicholson and they have four children.
