Fiji: Tropical Cyclone Ella
Tropical Cyclone Ella is currently a Category 2 tropical cyclone and is currently forecast to intensify further prior to passing close to the north coast of Vanua Levu and nearby islands from Friday evening 12 May.
Tropical Cyclone Ella may bring destructive winds, heavy rainfall, dangerous storm surge and flooding to some areas of Fiji.
Cyclones forecasts and storm tracks can change at short notice. We advise New Zealanders in Fiji to monitor weather reports and follow the advice of the local authorities at all times (including any evacuation orders) and seek suitable shelter.
Visitors and tourists staying in travel accommodation in affected areas should follow the guidance of hotel/resort management. It is sensible practice not to venture outdoors during a cyclone and remain well away from the sea and rivers.
