Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters spoke on 23 April with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Ministers discussed the impact that COVID-19 was having in both countries and the positive steps taken in response to address the significant challenges.

Appreciation was expressed for the strong cooperation to date, including the assistance provided by the UAE to the approximately 5,000 New Zealanders in the country, and for the maintenance of supply chains between the two countries.

Cooperation across a wide range of other areas was also discussed, including in the Pacific.
