Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters spoke on 1 May with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

The two Ministers discussed the domestic challenges presented by COVID-19, as well as the measures taken to respond to the crisis in each country and the encouraging results that those actions were having.

New Zealand’s appreciation was expressed for Saudi Arabia’s assistance with the repatriation of New Zealand citizens from the Kingdom in April, and for the cooperation to date between the two countries.

The importance of on-going trade and political links was discussed, as well as regional and other developments, including with respect to their shared interests in defeating ISIS.
