Health and wellbeing

Benefits include:

  • An annual Health and Wellbeing subsidy towards the cost of equipment or services that support the health and wellbeing of the individual
  • Annual flu vaccinations
  • Access to Employment Assistance Programme (EAP) Services for confidential, practical assistance when personal issues arise that may impact an individual’s ability to do their job or affect their wellbeing
  • Eye examination subsidy and support with resulting prescriptions
  • Carparks available for staff that have a health and safety need
  • Carparks available for general staff use by application (once every 12 days)

  • On-site yoga classes and massage therapy


Benefits include:

  • Parental leave policies that provide benefits greater than those provided for under legislation, for example an additional year of ‘special period of absence’
  • Those eligible for parental leave may be entitled to an ex gratia payment of up to 6 weeks’ pay on their return from the leave period
  • On-site breast-feeding and nappy changing room
  • Subsidy towards childcare costs for children aged 13 and under
  • Additional support for childcare costs when travelling for work
  • A Prayer and Meditation room available for private use in our Wellington office


Benefits include:

  • Study assistance to build staff capability and recognise that work-relevant study is an important aspect of this development. Staff with an interest in work-relevant study may apply via their manager for study assistance which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
  • Formal career advice and planning via our internal career advisers
  • Free access to ‘Transparent Language’ learning tool and internal language learning networks
  • Minimum of 23 days annual leave, up to 25 days annual leave under certain situations
  • Flexible working arrangements to accommodate diverse and changing life situations and enable our people to manage their work and their lives

Te Whare o Aorere

We are proud of our whare on level 12 of our head office in Lambton Quay. Te Whare o Aorere was created in collaboration with several master carvers and weavers and represents a special connection with Iwi and with the land and people of Aotearoa.


We maintain a collection of works of art which are displayed both at Head Office and in the representational areas of New Zealand’s posts and official residences overseas.

The art collection helps to create a distinctly New Zealand ambience in our work environment. It focuses on New Zealand’s Maori and Pacific Island dimension, and showcases New Zealand creativity.
