Our relationship with the Slovak Republic

New Zealand’s relationship with the Slovak Republic is friendly and in good health. As small states with export-focused economies, Slovakia and New Zealand have much in common. We work together in multilateral forums such as ASEM, the International Whaling Commission and the Alliance of Civilisations.

New Zealand values its relationship with Slovakia as an EU member state, and the Working Holiday Scheme with Slovakia, agreed in April 2012,offers an opportunity to build closer ties. New Zealand’s trade with Slovakia has increased notably over the last three years, with New Zealand importing over NZ$60 million worth of goods from Slovakia in 2014.
