In a joint statement on the bilateral relationship, New Zealand and the European Union have announced their agreement to start the process for Free Trade Agreement negotiations.

As with our other FTA negotiations, MFAT will be issuing a call for public submissions in the coming months. This will ensure we have a full picture of the range of New Zealand interests in this negotiation. MFAT will also be establishing a process for keeping New Zealanders regularly updated.
