Public meeting on New Zealand's interests in Antarctica

We are holding a public meeting to discuss the proposed statement of New Zealand's interest in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.

We invite you to this public meeting to discuss the draft proposed statement and to provide feedback. You can see the statement here(external link).

Date:  Wednesday, 25 July

Time:  4.00pm-5.30pm

Venue:  Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Level 12, HSBC Tower, 195 Lambton Quay

NB: Please arrive by 3.50pm to complete sign-in and security requirements.

New Zealand has significant and enduring strategic interests in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. These include peace, security, and effective governance, together with environmental, scientific, conservation, reputational, and economic interests.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is refreshing New Zealand’s statement of these interests (the previous statement was published in 2002).
