Our relationship with Bangladesh
New Zealand and Bangladesh have a friendly relationship. Our engagement with Bangladesh occurs through the Commonwealth and the United Nations.
In recent years, there has been a considerable expansion in our bilateral trade and economic relationship, underpinned by rapid growth in the Bangladesh economy. We share a love of cricket and compete frequently in international matches and tours.
Trade
In the last decade, two-way trade in goods and services between Bangladesh and New Zealand has increased significantly.

Aid
Bangladesh receives some funding from the New Zealand Aid Programme through emergency and disaster relief, and our support through United Nations and non-government organisation (NGO) channels.
New Zealand provides support to partners delivering humanitarian assistance to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. New Zealand also supports an agricultural livelihood projects.
There are opportunities for New Zealand NGOs to apply for funding from the Partnerships for International Development Fund, which focuses on sustainable economic development initiatives in the field of Agriculture.
