Future of Investment and Trade Partnership welcomes Fiji as its newest Member

Ministry Statements & Speeches:

The Future of Investment and Trade (FIT) Partnership warmly welcomes Fiji as its newest Member. Fiji’s decision to join follows its attendance at the recent FIT Partnership Ministerial Meeting in Auckland, 16-17 July. Fiji’s membership strengthens the Partnership’s diverse and inclusive membership, increasing representation from across different geographical regions and economic development stages.

Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, said, “Fiji is pleased to join the FIT Partnership. We look forward to addressing shared challenges in a practical way, to support a more open, inclusive and resilient trading environment.”

The FIT Partnership now comprises 20 members1, all of which are small and medium-sized, trade-dependent countries that share a strong commitment to open and fair trade. Members share the intent of advancing a positive and forward-looking agenda to address emerging challenges and advance opportunities in trade and investment

The FIT Partnership is action orientated. Through an informal and flexible approach, members collaborate to strengthen supply chain resilience, advance digital trade, reduce trade barriers, and develop practical responses to contemporary trade issues.

“As a small island developing state, Fiji places particular importance on strengthening supply chain resilience, expanding market opportunities, advancing digital trade, and addressing trade barriers. We see value in the Partnership’s flexible and practical approach to cooperation,” said Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka.

Members look forward to gathering in the United Arab Emirates for the third FIT Partnership Ministerial Meeting in early 2027, where they will review progress and advance cooperation across these shared priorities.
