New Zealand has long-standing development cooperation partnerships in South Asia dating back to the Colombo Plan in the early 1950s.

Our support to the region focuses on social cohesion and the prevention of violent extremism; climate resilience and, as needed, humanitarian support in response to natural disasters and conflict. We partner with governments, international, regional, private and non-profit organisations to deliver development activities.
