Biography

Rebekah Mawson was appointed as New Zealand Consul-General, Guangzhou in August 2019. Rebekah joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2005 and most recently served as Economic Counsellor at the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing.

Rebekah has also worked at the New Zealand Embassy in Washington DC, in divisions responsible for New Zealand's trade negotiations and bilateral relationship with Australia, and in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet on secondment.

Rebekah has Arts and Law (Hons.) degrees from Victoria University of Wellington.

Rebekah speaks Mandarin and is married with two children.
