New Zealand's Consul-General to Shanghai
Andrew Robinson took up the role of New Zealand Consul-General in Shanghai in January 2019.
Prior to his current appointment, Andrew was a Lead Advisor at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington. Andrew’s most recent roles have been in the team planning New Zealand’s next host year for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2021, and in the leadership team for New Zealand’s last term on the United Nations Security Council from 2015-2016. Andrew has previously been posted to the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing from 2011-2013. Andrew has also completed a Mandarin language training course at Taiwan National University.
Before joining the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Andrew worked in the private sector as a commercial lawyer specialising in antitrust law. Andrew was educated at the University of Auckland, and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in International Relations.
