Targeted travel bans on individuals responsible for human rights violations in Iran

On 12 December 2022(external link), the Minister of Foreign Affairs announced the implementation of targeted travel bans on 22 selected individuals from Iran. The list was expanded to 37 individuals on 15 February 2023(external link), and to 55 individuals on 19 June 2023(external link).

Through immigration instructions, a travel ban has now been implemented against the following:

  • Hossein Salami, Commander in Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
  • Gholom-Reza Soleimani, Head of the Basij Organisation
  • Mohammad Kazemi, Commander of the Intelligence Bureau, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
  • Hossein Ashtari, Chief Commander of the Law Enforcement Forces
  • Hassan Karami, Commander of the Police Special Forces (Riot Police)
  • Mohammad Rostami Cheshmeh Gachi, Head of Guidance Patrol, Law Enforcement Command (Morality Police)
  • Hossein Rahimi, Head of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces in Tehran
  • Haj Ahmed Mirzaei, Head of Guidance Patrol, Law Enforcement Command (Morality Police) in Tehran
  • Salar Abnoush, Deputy Commander of the Basij Resistance Force
  • Qasem Rezaei, Deputy Commander of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces
