Policy Adviser – Strategic Communications
The New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi is seeking an experienced communications and policy professional to join its policy team as a Policy Adviser – Strategic Communications. This is an exciting opportunity to support New Zealand’s growing relationship with India by combining policy insight with external engagement and communications expertise.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the High Commission’s strategic communications and public diplomacy activities, including social media, media engagement, and cultural outreach. You will also contribute to policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and support for official visits and events.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Mission and working with High Commission and Wellington colleagues, you will play a key role in ensuring that New Zealand’s key messages are communicated clearly, consistently and with impact across a variety of platforms and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the High Commission’s social media and digital communications
- Drafting speeches, press releases, articles, and other public messaging
- Supporting public diplomacy and outreach activities
- Contributing to policy advice, briefings, and analysis
- Supporting visit programmes, stakeholder engagement, and external events
- Building and maintaining relationships with media, institutions, and civil society
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in communications, political science, international relations, public policy, or a related field
- At least four years’ relevant experience in communications, policy, or public affairs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of the media environment and digital platforms
- Sound judgement, political awareness, and cultural sensitivity
- Strong relationship management and organisational skills
This is a locally engaged position based in New Delhi. The successful candidate must already hold the right to live and work in India.
