Previous consultation on the New Zealand-EU FTA
We’ve called for public submissions at various stages of the process on the NZ-EU FTA and on various issues from 2016/2017 through to 2022.
This has included submissions on the EU's proposed list of Geographical Indications (GIs) for protection under the agreement at the end of 2018. We also called for nominations of possible New Zealand GIs that could be protected in the EU and New Zealand through the FTA. See the details of this submission process. Another consultation period took place on some amended EU GIs over April-May 2022, see details of this submission process.
We initiated another call for submissions at the end of 2019, this time on the EU's proposed framework for protection of GIs. As part of this process, a number of public consultation meetings were held to discuss the framework in more detail and to receive feedback on the EU's proposal. The consultation period closed in April 2020. See a summary of the submission process.
