Funding opportunities

MFAT administers several funds as part of the New Zealand International Development Cooperation Programme.

These funds are available to organisations that have their own proposals for development and humanitarian response activities. Eligibility depends on the type of fund, and all applications for funding go through a full appraisal and selection process.

Partnering For Impact

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has an approach to partnering with non-government organisations (NGOs) called Partnering For Impact. Through this mechanism, we partner with NZ NGOs and their local civil society partners to use their experience, knowledge and reach. This supports the delivery of locally-led solutions for people experiencing vulnerabilities across our region.

New Zealand Disaster Response Partnership (NZDRP)

The New Zealand Disaster Response Partnership (NZDRP) is for accredited NGOs working in humanitarian response.

PacificTA: Programme for Technical Assistance to Pacific Island Countries

Assists Pacific Island countries to develop and deliver appropriate solutions to service delivery at a local level e.g. urban planning, infrastructure planning and management, water and waste management and asset management.

Post Graduate Field Research Awards

These awards support research by New Zealand-based postgraduate students on development issues relevant to the New Zealand International Development Cooperation (IDC). The awards help foster a depth of knowledge and sound research skills in our future development professionals.

MFAT has made financial contributions towards the postgraduate development field research awards of selected New Zealand-based students since 1991.

The awards are normally advertised toward the end of the calendar year.

Collaborate Pacific Fund

The Collaborate Pacific Fund has been discontinued. Travel will no longer be funded through this mechanism. For any enquiries please contact enquiries@mfat.govt.nz.
