His Excellency Brody Sinclair
New Zealand’s High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Tonga
New Zealand’s High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Tonga, Brody Sinclair, was most recently Lead Adviser to the Deputy Chief Executive (Policy) at New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
During his more than 15 years with the Ministry, Brody has served in Seoul (2012-2016) and in Washington DC (2019-2023). He has also served in a relief capacity as chargé d'affaires in Tehran (2024).
Brody has worked on various trade negotiations and trade-related issues, including as Deputy Senior Official for the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Prior to joining the Ministry, Brody had a career as a business and political journalist.
Brody is a graduate of the University of Auckland where he gained a Master of Arts in history and a Bachelor of Science in statistics. Brody is married with three teenage daughters.
