If the course you are planning to take is designed to last for more than 3 months, you must apply for a student visa, regardless of how long you plan to study in New Zealand.
New Zealand Alumni Network in China
The prime minister of New Zealand, Rt Hon Helen Clark, launched the New Zealand Alumni Network in China in May 2005, at a lunch held at the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing.
What is the purpose of the network?
The network is to help alumni from New Zealand higher education institutions keep in contact with their schools, with New Zealand, and with each other.
The network is not designed to be a formal association as such. We have no plans to set up an administrative body and will not maintain a database of members at the embassy. We also have no plans to commercialise the network in any way.
Many New Zealand higher education institutions keep in touch with their Chinese alumni. They will continue to do so. The New Zealand Alumni Network in China will make use of these existing channels from time to time, sending information and invitations to connect alumni at a national level.
The network will provide you with the latest information and updates on New Zealand, and the New Zealand-China relationship.
We will arrange networking events for alumni in Beijing and Shanghai, and we hope in other Chinese cities. We will also work to arrange opportunities for alumni to meet visiting New Zealand government and private sector leaders when they are in China.
How to keep in contact?
Participating New Zealand higher education institutions will send New Zealand Alumni Network newsletters and invitations to their alumni in China.
We encourage all alumni to contact their institutions, to check they are on email or postal distribution lists for these communications. Your university or polytechnic would be pleased to hear from you.
