Two Policy Adviser Positions (Locally Employed)

New Zealand High Commission  –  London
(Fixed Term, Locally Employed)

The New Zealand High Commission in London is seeking two experienced policy advisers to contribute to the advancement of New Zealand’s foreign policy interests and support the High Commission’s engagements.

We like to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

·         Tertiary qualification

·         Experience in developing policy advice

·         Experience in working in foreign policy or trade and economic policy will be an advantage

·         Excellent written and oral communication

·         Ability to think critically and analytically

·         Good research and information data analysis

·         Ability to discern key issues of significance to New Zealand, and shape a policy agenda accordingly

·         Ability to anticipate issues and problems and think of creative and effective solutions

·         Demonstrated ability to contribute to and work within a team

·         Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships

·         Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong skills in Outlook, Word and Excel

·         Well-developed planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure

·         Possess a strong achievement and delivery focus

·         Display personal integrity and an honest and ethical approach

·         Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial

Applicants must be:

·         legally entitled to reside and work in the UK.  All permits and visas must be valid.

·         able to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government Security clearance which requires applicants to hold New Zealand citizenship.

This is a permanent, locally employed position. Please note that no offshore allowances, relocation support, or housing provisions apply.


Salary Range:  £43,986 to £51,748
