Consul General Stu Horne.

Stu is a career diplomat with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). Alongside his role as Consul General, Stu is the non-resident New Zealand Ambassador designate to the Republic of Palau, Federated States of Micronesia and Republic of Marshall Islands.

Prior to coming to Hawai’i Stu held a number of senior roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade including as the head of the Economic Division, as New Zealand’s Climate Change Ambassador and as the head of the Middle East and Africa Division.

Stu has also worked extensively on Pacific issues, including a posting as Deputy High Commissioner in Samoa (2011-14) and as New Zealand's Special Coordinator to the Small Island Developing States Conference in 2014. Stu was also Posted to Brussels where he worked on NATO issues from 2004-2007.

Having previously worked as a corporate lawyer, Stu joined the Ministry in 2000. Stu is married with two children and has a BA/LLB (Hons) from the University of Otago.
